Spring is a time of renewal, when the flowers bloom, the birds sing, and the weather turns warmer. Not surprisingly, it’s also a time when many folks refresh their homes, and that includes their decorations. Winter decor is stored while new ones are taken out of storage. If you’re into DIY projects and want to update your home’s look for spring, try some of these easy-to-make DIY spring decorations for you and your kids, brought to you by NSA Storage.

The Beauty of Crafting DIY Decorations for Spring

If you’re into decorating your home and DIY projects, crafting DIY spring decorations will be a perfect fit. That’s because they’re fun to make, look great, and make excellent conversation starters.

Here are a few more reasons to make your own spring decor:

  • DIY decorations are typically less expensive to make than purchasing new ones
  • Your entire family can get involved in the project(s)
  • Crafting decorations makes for a fantastic weekend activity
  • You can customize your decorations to match your personal colors and style

One final reason to make your own decorations is that, if you love them, you can store them and reuse them. That goes for the materials and tools to make more next year, also!

DIY Spring Decorations Perfect for Adults

These DIY projects are geared more towards adults. They’re relatively easy, low-cost, and look beautiful when finished. They’re also nice enough to look store-bought.

Decorative Lanterns

Using faux flowers, a string of mini lights, and mason jars you can make a beautiful, lighted display. Simply place the lights in the jar and then place the flowers inside.

  • These can be used indoors or outdoors
  • You can reuse them for other seasons and holidays with some slight changes
  • Use different-sized jars for a bigger visual impact

Mini lights that can be programmed to change colors or lighting patterns are a great choice for this project.

Botanical Wall Art

Using cheap frames from Goodwill or garage sales, you can display beautiful pressed flowers on your walls! (Just FYI, this project takes a little longer as you need to press your flowers first.)

  • Use your favorite flowers
  • You can use faux flowers, also
  • Mix sizes, flowers, and frames for a dramatic display

The finished frames look amazing and, even better, can be easily swapped. Plus, several can be stored together in a single box.

Spring Wreath for Your Front Door

Wreaths aren’t just for the holidays anymore but can be enjoyed year-round. You can DIY a wreath with basic materials using either fresh flowers or greenery.

Hand making a floral spring wreath.
  • You’ll need a foam or metal base from your local crafting store.
  • Use flowers like eucalyptus, tulips, or greenery stems.
  • Lay out your design before starting
  • Attach everything with hot glue or floral wire
  • Adding a bow is optional

Want to keep your wreath for next year? If yes, be sure to store it lying flat with nothing on top to crush it.

DIY Spring Decorations Ideal for Kids

Depending on the age of your children, these decorations will be fun to make and very colorful. Even better, they don’t have to be perfect, giving each one its own, unique look.

Garlands of Paper Flowers

Some colorful construction paper can be turned into a wonderful garland your kids will be proud to display! It’s easy and fun, but be sure to give them kid-friendly scissors.

  • Grab construction paper, string, glue, and scissors
  • Cut out flower shapes
  • Glue the flowers onto the string
  • Hang in front of windows, on a wall, or over the mantel

You can use a hot glue gun for these, also, if your kids are old enough to use it safely. Also, use push pins to hang them easily and quickly.

Egg Carton Flowers

This DIY decoration is great for smaller kids, although they might need help cutting with scissors.

  • You’ll need cardboard egg cartons, paint, sticks, and glue
  • Cut out the individual egg cups
  • Paint them in bright colors and paint the sticks green
  • Glue them onto the sticks and display in a small vase

For some kids, painting the egg carton before cutting them apart might be easier. Also, you can use straws instead of sticks.

Butterfly Hand Art

This is a classic decoration that you might remember from when you were a kid. It’s easy as pie and the results will make everyone in the family smile.

  • Kid-safe paint is needed, as well as construction paper
  • Paint your child’s palm and fingers (just on one side!)
  • Press both hands down flat, next to each other, to form the “butterfly’s” wings
  • Cut out a long, oval shape (the “body”) with extra construction paper
  • Glue the wings to the body, and glue 2 pipe cleaners for “antennae”

Should You Store Your DIY Spring Decorations in a Storage Unit?

If you like to decorate your home for every season, you might have a lot of decorations and not a lot of space to store them. A self-storage unit might be a solution so that you can easily rotate your decorations throughout the year. Some other benefits include:

  • A storage unit provides safe, secure storage for almost anything
  • You can rent a self-storage unit short or long-term, it’s your choice
  • You’ll have more storage at home, but know your other stuff is safe and sound until you need it again

If a storage unit sounds like the best choice for you and your family, count on NSA Storage. You can reserve one of our storage units online in minutes. Use them as you see fit, and organize all your decorations and other household items any way you like!

The city of Los Angeles, California, hardly needs an introduction. The 2nd-largest city in the United States, LA is also one of the most culturally diverse cities on the planet. It’s an entertainment and media powerhouse, a major technology city, and offers world-class sports, arts, and cuisine! If you’re moving to Los Angeles, this guide from NSA Storage has everything you need to know about your new home.

Los Angeles Highlights

Although it’s an expensive place to live, there is a reason so many are still willing to to make the move to LA. Consider a few of the many perks that come from living in Los Angeles:

  • A dry Mediterranean climate with nearly 300 days of sunshine a year and little to no extreme cold.
  • Pacific coastal living but with mountains close enough for day trips, which opens up a world of outdoor sport and recreation options.
  • A massive urban park system, with green spaces around every corner and a wide range of outdoor activities to enjoy year-round.
  • World-class dining, shopping, and entertainment venues, and an arts scene that has few rivals.
  • Immersion in a culterally diverse area. Over 220 languages are spoken across LA County.

There’s one last reason LA has such a magnetic attraction for so many folks: Hollywood. One of the city’s many neighborhoods, Hollywood is known worldwide as the birthplace of today’s modern film and television industry.

Climate and Weather in LA

A green hill with Griffith observatory in the foreground, with LA in the background.

Moving to LA means you’ll experience low humidity most of the year, long stretches of sunny, warm days, and only a handful of rainy weeks in winter.

Speaking of winter in LA, it rarely gets cold enough for frost, let alone snow. You’ll have the occasional storm off of the Pacific Ocean, but they pass quickly in most cases. It’s rare to see long stretches of rainy days, even during LA’s short “rainy season”.

Here are a few more Los Angeles weather tidbits:

  • During summer, LA can go for weeks without rain.
  • LA has low humidity levels compared to many other cities in subtropical climates.
  • Summer highs range from 75°F to 85°F, with few days that are sweltering hot.
  • Winter highs range from 55°F to 70°F.
  • Most of the city’s rainfall is seen in winter, between November and March.
  • On average, the city sees five and a half days of sunshine every week.

Los Angeles has One of the World’s Largest Economies

With several major industries including entertainment, technology, tourism, aerospace and international trade, it’s no wonder LA’s economy is thriving. The city’s GDP is approximately $1.1 trillion, which would rank it in the top 20 countries globally!

Many folks moving to Los Angeles are searching for a job, a career, or a fresh start. The city is happy to oblige, with many of the world’s major employers, including:

One thing to keep in mind is that Los Angeles does have a major issue with traffic. Commute times in the city are some of the longest in the country, often exceeding 35 minutes. The good news, though, is that LA is currently expanding their Metro rail system to help ease traffic congestion.

Enjoy LA’s World-Class Culture, Arts and Cuisine

Today, LA is recognized internationally in terms of museums and performing arts venues. It’s also the global center of the film and TV industries, and sees a constant influx of creative talent. Not surprisingly, the city has one of the largest concentrations of designers, musicians, writers, and visual artists in the world.

Then there’s the cuisine. From Michelin-starred restaurants to amazing street vendors, dining out in LA is a delicious adventure! It helps that the city has access to farm-fresh ingredients the entire year. Plus, being on the Pacific Coast, the seafood here is as good as it gets!

Here’s a quick look at some of the amazing culture, arts, and dining choices you’ll have when living in LA:

  • Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)- The largest art museum in the western U.S., with a collection that spans 6,000+ years of art history.
  • Hollywood Bowl– With seating for over 17,000 fans, it’s the largest outdoor amphitheatre in the country.
  • The Getty Center & Getty Villa– An incredible museum that focuses on ancient Greek, Roman, and Etruscan art. (It’s also free to the public.)
  • Koreatown, Little Tokyo, Chinatown, and Thai Town– These cities-within-a-city provide neighborhood-driven culture, food, nightlife, and arts. Plus, LA’s is the only official Thai Town in the United States.
  • Walt Disney Concert Hall– The LA Philharmonic Orchestra plays here, a venue recognized internationally for its architectural style and amazing acoustics.
  • The Broad– Also free to the public, you’ll enjoy over 2,000 works of contemporary art here.
  • Academy Museum of Motion Pictures– The first major museum dedicated entirely to film history.
  • Dozens of Michelin-starred restaurants throughout the city. LA is one of the few cities in the world where Michelin-star dining and street food coexist at world-class levels.

Los Angeles is a Winner in Pro Sports

Professional sports and LA have a long, glorious history, making the city one of the most successful in the country in terms of championships. Los Angeles is one of the few cities with a professional sports team in every major league and is home to multiple teams in the same league.

Los Angeles has also hosted the Olympic Games two times (in 1932 and 1984) and will host the Games again in 2028.

Take a look at LA’s impressive pro sports roster:

Besides these championship-winning teams, LA is also home to:

LA is one of the top sports cities in the world, with iconic stadiums, winning teams, and a year-round sports culture. There are only a handful of cities on the planet that measure up to Los Angeles when it comes to professional sports.

Outdoor Recreation Near LA

One of the best reasons to live in Los Angeles is that, whatever you’re into, the city has it. Parks and green spaces are everywhere you look, and the beach is minutes away. Plus, there are so many miles of trails to hike and bike, you might never see them all!

A white sand beach with blue waves crashing ashore.

LA offers a rare combination of access to beaches, mountains, urban trails and year-round recreation. You can, for example, surf in the morning, hike a trail after lunch, and be mountain biking by dinnertime! Very few metro areas offer this recreational diversity.

Here are a few peak spots in LA to be your peak self:

  • Major Beaches– Santa Monica, Venice, Malibu, Manhattan Beach, and Hermosa Beach are all here, with surfing, swimming, volleyball, and more. LA offers 70+ miles of coastline!
  • Griffith Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country with over 4,300 acres.
  • Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, with over 500 miles of trails and amazing terrain.
  • One of the country’s most extensive systems of urban bike lanes and coastal paths.
  • Runyon Canyon Park, a magnet for hikers with spectacular views of the city.
  • Hundreds of public tennis courts, baseball diamonds, skate parks, and soccer fields.

After a long winter, your home might need some help getting ready for a new year. The process of de-winterizing can seem overwhelming, with a lot of small aspects of your home needing attention, but Spring is the perfect time to tackle this project. NSA Storage has a checklist to walk you through every step.

Why De-winterizing Your Home?

Getting your home ready for winter means turning some things off, putting others away, and buttoning everything up to stay warm and cozy. De-winterizing reverses all of that stuff so that, as warm weather starts again, you’ll be able to enjoy it fully.

Here are a few reasons why de-winterizing is a good idea:

  • You’ll see, and be able to fix, any damage caused by winter weather
  • You’ll save money by preventing possible problems caused by that damage
  • You can prepare your home’s important systems (HVAC, AC, gutters, etc.) for the rain and heat to come
  • Outdoor living spaces can also be prepped for gatherings and good times

In effect, de-winterizing your home gets it ready for the more active days of spring and summer and ensures everything works properly when you need it.

Plumbing and Water Systems

Your home’s plumbing is a vital system that can suffer damage in winter, even if you haven’t noticed a leak or had a pipe burst. Checking, and repairing, that damage is a must, including:

  • Checking all exposed pipes for damage
  • Testing your sump pump
  • Checking under sinks for leaks
  • Turning on outdoor spigots and checking for damage
a hand reaching out to check a pipe beneath a sink.

Be sure to check for any damage to pipes in crawl spaces under your home and in your basement. These areas can go unnoticed until a major problem occurs.

HVAC and Ventilation

Staying cool and comfy in summer is a must, and you don’t want your HVAC to fail on a sweltering day. To prevent that, be sure to do the following:

  • Replace your HVAC air filter(s)
  • Check all vents and registers to be sure they’re not clogged with dust and debris
  • Test your AC to make sure it’s working correctly, including the thermostat

If your HVAC was having any problems last year, scheduling a professional inspection is a smart idea. If your vents are looking a little dusty, it might be worth it to have a professional come and clean them so that the air you and your family are breathing is as clean as possible.

Safety Devices

Safety devices like fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, and carbon monoxide and others don’t typically get damaged in winter. They can, however, lose their pressure, or the batteries can expire. Be sure they’re all working by:

  • Testing all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
  • Checking fire extinguisher pressure and expiration dates
  • Inspecting any power cords or strips, especially ones used outside
A hand reaching up to test a smoke detector.

Be sure to replace any batteries and, if your extinguisher has low pressure, recharge it or replace it; smaller extinguishers are usually cheaper to replace than recharge.

Roof, Gutters, and Drainpipes

Keeping water from intruding into your home prevents damage that can often be devastating. That’s why checking your roof, gutters and drainpipes is a must, including:

  • Clean gutters and downspouts thoroughly
  • Make sure downspouts are directed away from your home’s foundation
  • Inspect your roof for shingles that have cracked, curled, or been torn away

If you can, going up into your attic to check for water leaks is highly recommended.

Doors, Windows, and Insulation

Keeping cold air out of your home is the goal in winter. Keeping cooled air in is what you want to do when warmer days start. To do that, be sure to check:

  • Window seals and caulking
  • Weatherstripping on all exterior doors
  • Window tracks to be sure they’re clean
  • Screens for any damage or holes

If there’s condensation between window panes and your energy bill is being affected, experts recommend replacing the glass unit only, as it’s cheaper than a full window replacement.

Backyard and Outdoor Areas

A furnished outdoor patio area.

De-winterizing your backyard and other outdoor areas can save you from major repairs. Plus, you’ll be able to prep everything for the spring fun to come, so be sure to:

  • Turn on your irrigation system to make sure it’s working well
  • Check your driveway and walkways for damage or cracks
  • Inspect any decking to be sure nothing is rotten, loose, or dangerous
  • Thoroughly clean all outdoor furniture
  • If you have a fence, check that posts haven’t shifted or loosened

Repairing any issues you find now, before summer, will save you from having to do it in sweltering heat.

Garages and Sheds

It’s a smart idea to de-winterize your garage and, if you have one, your shed. More importantly, you can check for damage to the items you have stored and prep items you’ll use during spring and summer. Here’s that checklist:

  • Inspect garage door seals
  • Look for any leaks or water damage
  • Safely store any winter equipment and tools
  • Organize your gardening and lawn maintenance tools

Pest Issues

This last checklist focuses on pests like rodents and insects, which can cause a lot of damage during the winter. To ensure they don’t continue to cause damage, be sure to check:

  • Your attic and basement for nests or animal droppings
  • Insulation, which rodents like to use for their nests
  • Vents and chimney caps, where critters love making nests

Be sure to seal any small openings where pests can enter your home. Also inspect for wood damage caused by insects, and chewed wires, which can increase the risk of fires.

You might be unaware that you have a pest problem, as many insects and rodents hibernate during the colder months, but as the days get warmer, they’ll become more active, and you might start to see signs of an infestation. If you find signs of pest activity, it’s best to get it evaluated by a professional and start pest control efforts immediately.

If you’re moving to Portland, Oregon, you’ll soon discover that the city provides the best of both worlds. That’s because Portland offers innovation and culture while also giving you easy access to amazing natural beauty. That’s a rare combo, and one of the reasons why Portland is so popular. If you’re considering a move to Portland or already have one planned, this moving guide from NSA Storage can help you understand what make Portland such a special place.

What Makes Portland a Special Place to Live?

An aerial view of a misty sunset over Portland and Mt. Hood.

The Northwest has several notable cities, but Portland stands out. That’s due in part to the city’s progressive vibe, which embraces creativity and supports local, independent businesses. This is evident in the fact that Portland has one of the highest rates of small businesses per capita in the U.S.

Below are a few of the other reasons Portland is a great place to live, work, and raise a family:

  • Downtown Portland is known as a “walker’s paradise”, with a 88+ walkability score. Many of the city’s neighborhoods were designed so that you can get anything you need within a 15-minute walk!
  • The city has a genuinely strong “buy local” ethic, with indie bookstores, record shops, maker spaces and, most of all, food carts. Portland also has strong policies that help local businesses thrive.
  • Portland is the #2 city in the country for breweries, many of which are family-friendly, dog-friendly, and neighborhood-based. There are more than 70 in the city, providing fun, energetic gathering places where friends and family meet.
  • Portland is one of America’s Top 5 biking cities, and roughly 7% of the folks who live here bike to work. Over 385 miles of bikeways help, as well as the city’s own “bike boulevards” designed especially for bikers.
  • Like beer, Portland’s coffee scene is delicious! Dozens of indy roasters can be found here, and their shops often double as art spaces, community meeting spots, and work spaces.
  • A short drive from the city you’ll find the spectacular Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood, an outdoor activity paradise.

Portland has a Strong and Diverse Local Economy

We’ve already mentioned that Portland is a great place for small business owners, with over 45,000 in the metro area. The city’s economy is a blend of technology, manufacturing, academia, healthcare, and a strong creative sector.

More than that, Portland is anchored by several global employers, including Intel and Nike. Booming sectors like healthcare, manufacturing, and technology have given the city a rooted, robust economy that supports over 1.2 million jobs.

Here’s a snapshot of Portland’s attractive economy:

  • About 1.25 million non-farm jobs make the city a major employment hub in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Healthcare is one of the largest and fastest-growing sectors in Portland, with an expected 40,000+ increase in the next decade.
  • Portland is a major U.S. logistics and retail center.
  • Top employers in the city include Intel, Nike, Daimler Trucks, Legacy Health & Kaiser Permanente, and Portland State University.
  • About 1 in 8 Oregon jobs is tied to international trade, underscoring Portland’s role as a Pacific Rim gateway.
  • The unemployment rate in the city hovers between 4 – 4.5%, slightly lower than the national average.

Portland’s Cultural Scene is a Game-Changer

One of the defining strengths of Portland is the city’s cultural character. Few cities have this strong a blend of creativity, independence, and easy access to all things new. Here, music defines neighborhoods, as do art, design, and the myriad of local, family-owned businesses.

What elevates Portland above other metropolitan areas? The culture, caring, and community. All three are here to support the entrepreneur, the dreamer, and the artist.

Take a look at how Portland weaves culture into everyday life:

  • The city’s Center for the Arts hosts between 7,000 and 10,000 performances per year, spread out over five downtown theatres..
  • Portland is home to 21 museums, including the beloved Portland Art Museum which opened in 1892. The museum has a priceless collection of 42,000 works of art spread across several Portland galleries.
  • The Portland Japanese Garden is ranked as one of the most authentic outside of Japan, and sees over 400,000 visitors every year.
  • The national average for attending performing arts events is about 48.5%. Portland’s average is 73.5%, a definitive sign that the city supports the arts.
  • Portland is nationally recognized for its artist-first culture, and deep network of grassroots venues that allow emerging artists to perfect their craft.

Portland is Embedded in Outdoor Recreation

One of Portland’s biggest flexes is that there’s so much to see, do, and enjoy here outdoors. Portland is a rare city in that you can work downtown, hike a waterfall after work, and snow ski or windsurf on the weekends! Very few cities offer this assortment of activities along with the ability to enjoy the outdoors year-round.

Here’s a look at some of the many fun, exciting, and invigorating activities you can enjoy in and around Portland:

  • The Columbia River Gorge is about 45 minutes from Portland. Stretching 80 miles along the Columbia River, the Gorge is basically a massive outdoor playground where you can kitesurf, windsurf, kayak, and paddleboard. (It’s one of the top windsurfing destinations in the world!)
  • Multnomah Falls, Oregon’s tallest waterfall, is located here, as well as more than 90 other waterfalls you can hike to on any given day.
  • One of the most scenic drives in the country, the Historic Columbia River Highway, is very popular with cyclists and families out for a relaxing Sunday drive.
  • Small towns around the Gorge like Cascade Locks and Hood River are a great place to visit a craft brewery or winery, window shop, and have dinner on the riverfront.
  • Mount Hood is less than two hours away, with all the winter sports you can imagine. When the snow’s gone, there’s abundant hiking, camping, fishing, and spectacular mountain biking!
Trillium Lake near Portland, Oregon, with Mt. Hood reflected in the water.

Trillium Lake and Lost Lake are some of the most beautiful in the country, with scenes like something from a postcard.

In short, if you love the outdoors and nature and are drawn to beautiful places and exciting activities, Portland will be your playground. When you combine that with the city’s high walkability and bikeability scores, you can really enjoy the outdoors to the fullest!

Many People Love the Weather!

Many folks are under the impression that, in the Northwest, it rains all the time, which simply isn’t true. While Portland does have its fair share of grey days, the trade-off is that the winters are moderate, there’s no oppressive humidity in summer, and both spring and fall are long and comfortable. In other words, Portland’s weather and climate are very livable.

Take a look at these weather facts from Portland and see if you don’t agree:

  • Annual rainfall in Portland is less than Atlanta, New York City, and Houston, at around 38 to 43 inches.
  • The city sees an average of 1 to 3 inches of snow every season, which is very low.
  • Portland gets about 140 days of sunshine, more than a 3rd of the year.
  • Thanks to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean and frequent rainfall, Portland’s air quality is better than many cities.

The payoff with weather like Portland’s is that the city’s foliage is lush and vibrant year-round, as well as the surrounding forest. Residents here lean into cozy, but short, winters, then go all-out the rest of the year with hiking, biking, festivals, and outdoor living.

If you long for a home refresh but don’t want to make a big financial investment, a hardware swap might be just what you’re looking for. A hardware swap means updating the hardware in your home’s kitchen, bathrooms, and other areas, including knobs, handles, hooks, etc. This DIY hardware swap guide, brought to you by NSA Storage, will help you pick the right hardware to give your home a fresh look for spring!

What’s So Great about a Spring Hardware Swap?

Replacing the hardware in your home might not sound like much, but the difference it can make is surprising. Compared to a full remodel, a hardware swap is an affordable way to make a noticeable, attractive difference in your home.

Some of the best reasons to do a hardware swap in spring include:

  • It’s a low-cost but high-impact DIY home refresh project.
  • Most folks can finish a hardware swap in a day or a leisurely weekend.
  • No demolition, major tools, painting, or expensive contractors are needed.

What Common Hardware Types Can You Swap?

In home improvement, hardware can refer to a lot of things, but in this case it refers to the functional or decorative metal fixtures in kitchens, bathrooms, and entryways.

Here’s the hardware you can swap throughout your home:

  • Cabinet knobs or pulls
  • Drawer knobs or pulls
  • Cabinet and door hinges
  • Towel bars and rings
  • TP holders
  • Faucets
  • Showerheads
  • Shower curtain rods and hooks
  • Vanity knobs and pulls
  • Door knobs
  • Laundry and entryway hooks

Choosing the Right Hardware

Before starting your DIY hardware swapping project, you’ll want to choose your new hardware. There are a few things to consider when making your choice: finish, size, and compatibility.

Let’s take a look at all three:

Finish / Aesthetics

The finish on your new hardware can be anything you like. Your choices might be limited by the style of home you already have, or the one you’d like to copy.

  • Matte Black is best for modern, farmhouse, or industrial-style homes.
  • Brushed Nickel is versatile, hides wear, and fits both traditional and modern homes.
  • Chrome is bright, clean, and goes well with traditional homes.
  • Brass / Gold Tones will give your home a warm, vintage, upscale look.
  • Oil-rubbed Bronze is a good choice for rustic homes as well as traditional.

Size / Proportion

Size and proportion refer to the traditional sizes of most home hardware and what they work best with.

Here are a few facts about size and proportion to help you choose correctly:

  • Knobs work best on small cabinets with small doors.
  • Cabinet pulls are usually 3 to 6 inches long and look best on larger doors.
  • Longer pulls are the preferred choice for oversize drawers.
  • Bathroom towel bars are typically 18 to 24 inches long.

Installation Compatibility

Installation compatibility is an important factor to keep in mind during your swap, for several reasons.

Here are a few real-world examples to help explain:

  • If new hardware isn’t compatible, old holes might be visible, off center, or too small / large.
  • Some hardware like towel bars use drywall anchors. Taking out the old hardware might leave you with a repair job when installing the new.
  • Hardware is often mounted to a stud, which is the best scenario for removal and installation.

How to Avoid the Biggest DIY Hardware Swap Mistakes

Swapping hardware is a fairly easy project, but there are a few things that can go wrong and make the project more difficult or time-consuming.

Here are a few things to watch out for when removing / installing your new hardware.

  • Don’t overtighten screws. This can crack your new hardware or damage other surfaces.
  • Be sure to use a level and check frequently, especially with towel bars.
  • Be sure new hardware has the same hole spacing as the old.
  • When possible, install towel bar holders into studs for maximum strength.
A gray, modern-style bathroom with silver hardware.

Last but not least: don’t throw your old hardware away too quickly. You never know when you might want to use it again. Plus, if you rent, your landlord might want you to switch things back to the way they were. That could cost you a pretty penny.

Let NSA Storage Help with Your Spring Projects

As we’ve seen, a DIY hardware swap involves mostly small hardware like knobs, pulls, towel bars, etc. But if your hardware swap is part of a larger project, like renovating a kitchen or bathroom, a storage unit might be a great choice for you. Here’s why:

  • You can store new appliances, cabinets, flooring, etc., while the renovations are ongoing.
  • Storing your nice furniture and valuable belongings in a storage unit will keep them safe and clean.
  • If you’re selling, you can use the storage unit while you “stage” your home.
  • If you’re a seasonal swapper, you can store things you don’t need until next year.

If renting a storage unit would be helpful to your situation, NSA Storage is here for you! You can reserve a storage unit online, and it will be ready when you arrive. With month-to-month leases, you can rent for as short or long as you need. Your spring renovations are in the right hands with NSA Storage.

The words quiet, residential, and hilly aren’t often used to describe Florida, but that’s just what you’ll find in lovely Minneola. Known for its rolling hills, which are rare in the Sunshine State, Minneola is only 30 miles west of Orlando while offering a very different vibe from the city. If you’re moving to Minneola and searching for insights, this guide from NSA Storage, Florida’s self-storage leader, is here to help.

What’s the Weather Like in Minneola?

It’s probably not surprising to most that Minneola has nice weather. After all, it’s in the center of the Sunshine State, Florida, a place where millions flock every winter. Sunshine is the norm, as well as mild winters that rarely see frost, let alone snow.

A sunny day at Lake Minneola.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that Minneola is in central Florida, so it’s close, but not on, the coast. That’s good news, as both Florida coasts are subject to severe weather, including hurricanes. Minneola is often affected by this severe weather, but far less so than Miami, Fort Myers, or Tampa.

Here are a few highlights of Minneola’s weather throughout the year:

  • Winter highs between 65–75°F
  • Thunderstorms from June through September that are heavy but brief
  • High humidity in summer, which can sometimes be overwhelming
  • Winter is the most comfortable season overall
  • Less than 50 inches of rain annually

What’s the Cost of Living in Minneola?

The cost of living in Minneola is about 14% lower than the U.S. average. That’s not bad, and is helped by a median home price around $310,300, 42% lower than the national average. Minneola is more affordable than Orlando, making it a good place to live if you work there. Rentals, however, are a bit harder to find than in larger cities. The trade-off is that lots and yards are larger.

Here are a few more notable items concerning the cost of living in Minneola:

  • Winter heating costs are very low
  • There’s no state income tax
  • Sales tax is an affordable 7%
  • Single-family homes dominate the city
  • Property taxes are moderate

One of Minneola’s Best Features: Green Spaces

When most people think of “green spaces in Florida,” they immediately also think of “wetlands.” The good news in Minneola is that green spaces are among the town’s best features!

One reason for this is Lake Minneola, one of the Clermont Chain of Lakes, found in Florida. Even though the city is landlocked, you can still enjoy walking and biking on scenic waterfront paths. Several fantastic natural areas are also very close, opening up a world of scenery that’s the opposite of swamps.

A few of the outdoor highlights in Minneola include:

  • Minneola Trailhead Park– This paved multi-use trail connects to the nearby town of Clermont. It’s very popular for walking, cycling, and jogging.
  • South Lake Trail– Part of Florida’s statewide trail system, with over 20 miles of paved trails. Most agree that this is one of the best recreational assets in all of Lake County, Florida.
  • Lake Louisa State Park– One of the state’s most scenic state parks, with rolling hills, several lakes, and miles of trails. It’s also a great spot for camping.
  • Ferndale Preserve– A breathtaking wildlife habitat with hiking and biking trails.

You’ll be pleased to know that Minneola offers more elevation and scenery than most of Florida. As mentioned earlier, the city has rolling hills, a rarity in a state known for being flat as the proverbial pancake.

Orlando is 30 Minutes from Minneola

If you’re going to Florida to work in Orlando, Minneola is a great choice. It’s close enough to keep your commute time low (30-45 minutes) while still offering the small-town, tranquil setting you desire. Below are a few other positives in terms of commuting and transportation when moving to Minneola, Florida:

By the way, both the Atlantic Coast and Gulf Coast are close enough to Minneola for day trips. For example:

Atlantic Coast

Gulf Coast

A Quiet, Safe, Tranquil Setting

One of the biggest draws in Florida is undoubtedly Orlando and its entertainment empire. Not only is it home to Disney World but also SeaWorld and Universal Studios. For those reasons, nightlife is huge, and tourists are everywhere.

That’s not the case in Minneola, where nightlife is tame in comparison, and tourists rarely visit. The town isn’t flashy, bright, or busy, but rather calm, practical, and surprisingly scenic. That makes it safer and laid back, something most Minneola residents say is the city’s biggest draw. In short, you get Florida’s great weather and low taxes without the chaos and commotion.

Outdoor Activities in Minneola

A POV shot from behind a fishing pole cast out over Lake Minneola.

Considering its location, it’s not surprising that there’s a lot to do outdoors in Minneola. After all, Florida is one of the sunniest states in the country, with about 245 days of sunshine a year. Add to that all the lakes and green spaces, and you’re guaranteed to find an activity that floats your boat!

Some of the most popular outdoor activities in Minneola include:

  • Kayaking
  • Fishing
  • Boating
  • Water skiing
  • Bicycling
  • Paddle boarding
  • Photography
  • Nature walks
  • Family picnics

Sports and Cultural Activities

It would be a stretch to say that Minneola is a big sports town or culturally significant. It’s not, but most people like it that way for the peace the city offers. However, if you’re into sports, enjoy visiting museums, or like seeing plays, Orlando is close enough to do just that.

Here are some of the sports and culture highlights you can enjoy not far from Minneola:

Higher Education Options

Like sports and culture, Minneola has few higher education options, at least in the city proper. That said, the University of Central Florida (UCF), one of the largest universities in the country, is only 45 minutes away. There you’ll find strong programs in:

  • Engineering
  • Computer Science & Information Technology
  • Business & Hospitality Management
  • Healthcare & Nursing
  • Education
  • Film and Digital Media

There’s also UCF Valencia College in Orlando, as well as Lake Sumter State College, which has campuses in nearby Clermont and Leesburg. In other words, access to higher education is strong in Minneola, especially considering its small size.

Need Help Moving to Minneola, Florida? Count on NSA Storage

Minneola, as we’ve seen, has a lot going for it. Great weather, quiet and safe streets, and more than its fair share of outdoor activities. Being this close to Orlando, the Theme Park Capital of the World, is also a big plus.

If you’re moving to Minneola soon and need to store your belongings upon arrival, NSA Storage is ready to help! With several locations, renting a storage unit in Minneola, FL, is easy, fast, and economical.

If you like, you can also reserve a storage unit in Minneola before you arrive, and it will be ready when you get here! Until then, best of luck moving to Minneola, a beautiful place to live, work, and relax!

If you’re looking for a kitchen upgrade that’s both low-cost and high-impact, look no further than a backsplash. A backsplash is installed on kitchen walls under the cabinets and behind the sink and stove to add a layer of protection and a pop of texture and color. If you’re ready to tackle this project yourself, follow this NSA Storage guide to get you started on your DIY kitchen backsplash.

Why Installing a DIY Backsplash is a Good Idea

Many kitchens lack backsplashes, increasing the risk that their walls will be damaged by water, heat, grease, and flames. Also, installing a backsplash is an excellent opportunity to show off your unique taste and style. The right DIY backsplash can turn a lackluster kitchen into one that impresses.

Backsplashes deliver personality, flair, and wall protection at a much lower cost than a full kitchen remodel. Your kitchen will look new and different, but your budget won’t get battered in the process. Even better, backsplashes have a very high ROI (Return On Investment) when selling your home!

What Does It Cost to DIY a Backsplash?

A close-up of kitchen backsplash.

As with most home improvement projects, you can find backsplashes in different materials, styles, and price ranges. For example, peel-and-stick backsplashes are relatively affordable. Tile backsplashes, on the other hand, can get pricey depending on the material.

Below is a simple breakdown of the cost to DIY a kitchen backsplash, based on an average area of 15 to 30 square feet.

Tile Backsplash:

  • Tile: $5 to $25 per square foot
  • Mortar, grout, spacers, and sealer: $1 to $3 per square foot
  • Tools (if you don’t already own them): $50 to $200
  • Average cost: Between $300 to $800+

Peel-and-Stick Backsplash:

  • Peel-and-stick tiles: $4–$12 per square foot
  • Minimal extra supplies (razor knife, level): $10–$25
  • Average cost: $100 to $300

How Much Time, Effort, and Skills are Needed to Install a Backsplash?

Before installing a DIY kitchen backsplash, it helps to know how much time, effort, and experience you’ll need. That way, you can choose the backsplash that matches your vision and skill level.

Below we break down all three to give you a clear idea:

DIY Backsplash Time Investment

Traditional Tile Backsplash:

  • Prep: 1- 2 hours
  • Tile installation: 4 – 8 hours
  • Drying time before applying grout: 24 hours
  • Grouting: 2 – 3 hours
  • Cleanup: 1 – 2 hours
  • Total project time: 2 – 3 days

Peel-and-Stick Backsplash:

  • Prep: 30 – 60 minutes
  • Installation: 1 – 2 hours
  • Drying time: None
  • Cleanup: 30 minutes
  • Total project time: Under 4 hours

DIY Backsplash Skill and Effort Investment

Traditional Tile Backsplash:

  • Requires measuring, cutting, leveling, spacing, and grouting
  • Physical effort: Moderate to high
  • Skill level: Intermediate

Peel-and-Stick Backsplash:

  • Requires measuring, peeling, and pressing into place
  • Physical effort: Low
  • Skill level: Beginner

It’s worth noting that mistakes with DIY tile backsplashes are harder to fix once the mortar sets. With peel-and-stick, however, mistakes can usually be corrected easily and quickly.

Traditional Backsplash Vs. Peel-and-Stick

Knowing the final results of your DIY backsplash project is helpful when making your final choice. For example, if you’re renting, you might not want to invest in upgrades that will last beyond your move-out. If you own, however, tile might be a better choice.

Traditional Tile Backsplash:

  • Lasts for 15 to 30 years or longer
  • Is highly resistant to heat, water, grease, and more
  • The tile grout needs occasional cleaning and possible re-sealing
  • More or less permanent
  • Increases your home’s value

Peel-and-Stick Backsplash:

  • Last for 3 to 5 years
  • Not as resistant to heat
  • Not as durable
  • Easy to remove and replace
  • Needs very little maintenance
  • Looks nice but doesn’t increase value

Should You Choose Traditional Backsplash or Peel-and-Stick?

A white kitchen with gray backsplash.

Now that you’ve seen the main differences between tile and peel-and-stick backsplashes, which is best for you? Your final choice will be affected by several factors, including whether you own or rent and the time and money you’re willing to invest.

A Traditional Tile Backsplash is Best If:

  • You own your home
  • You want something durable and permanent
  • You’re interested in increasing your home’s value
  • You have the tools already
  • You’re confident in your DIY skills

A Peel-and-Stick Backsplash is Best If:

  • You’re a renter
  • You don’t want to invest a lot of time or money into the project
  • You want something that’s easy to remove or replace
  • You don’t have the needed tools
  • You don’t have a lot of DIY experience

Should You Rent a Storage Unit for Your Kitchen Renovations?

If your backsplash project is part of a bigger kitchen renovation, you might need more space until the project is finished. A self-storage unit is a great solution for these reasons:

  • You can store valuables and fragile items to protect them from theft or damage.
  • Supplies, materials, and new appliances can be safely stored until they’re needed.
  • You’ll be able to free up space to complete the project without extra stuff getting in your way.

If renting a self-storage unit sounds like a smart choice, NSA Storage can help. Our safe, clean, and secure storage facilities offer storage units in several different sizes to fit your needs perfectly. You can also reserve a storage unit online, and it will be ready to store your stuff safely when you arrive. We’re here to help you with all of your DIY and home renovation projects!

Searching for a scenic riverfront city that’s affordable, deeply cultural, and offers unique lifestyle perks? Shreveport, Louisiana, might be the place for you. Shreveport offers amenities and a low-key, livable lifestyle. If you’re moving to Shreveport, or just arrived, keep this Shreveport Moving Guide handy. It’s brought to you by NSA Storage. Read on to discover what makes Shreveport so appealing and why it could be your new home!

A Quick Look at Shreveport Features

When it comes to choosing a place to start a business, a family, or a career, one word comes to mind: livability. A livable city makes life more fun, more affordable, less stressful, and more impactful. Shreveport, LA, ticks all of those boxes!

Consider these features and benefits:

  • Shreveport is one of Louisiana’s most affordable cities.
  • The city offers free bus service for everyone.
  • Shreveport offers a dynamic, exciting riverfront lifestyle, with fishing, boating, dining, and other enjoyable amenities.
  • Riverboat Casinos provide upscale, exciting entertainment on the Red River!
  • Shreveport gently blends historic neighborhoods with modern dining and shopping areas.
  • Barksdale Air Force Base, one of the most strategically important military installations in the United States, is located here and one of the city’s major employers.
  • The Red River Arts Festival is held annually in Shreveport, one of the biggest arts festivals in the country.
  • Dallas-Fort Worth is about 3 hours’ drive, making big-city day trips a distinct possibility.

This city of about 180,000 holds a lot more in store for new arrivals and residents alike. This combination of affordability and low-key, riverfront lifestyle is hard to beat, and makes Shreveport an appealing choice.

Shreveport’s Cost of Living is a Winner

One of the strongest selling points about Shreveport is the city’s affordable cost of living. That includes lower housing, transportation, and other major costs, making the city a strong choice for budget-conscious individuals.

Here are a few facts and figures about the cost of living in Shreveport, LA:

  • Housing costs are a BIG win in Shreveport, sitting roughly 38% lower than the U.S. average!
  • Shreveport is ranked #40 on a list of 229 U.S. cities for affordability.
  • The cost of living here is between 7 – 10% below the national average.
  • The median rent in Shreveport is an affordable $980 – $1,040 per month. That’s well below the country’s average.
  • The cost of groceries in the city is 18% lower than the national average, another big win, especially for growing families.

If you want to purchase a home, consider this: Shreveport’s median home price runs between $130,000 – $180,000. Now compare that to:

A residential street in Shreveport, Louisiana at sunset.
  • Dallas / Ft. Worth, TX – $430,000
  • Atlanta, GA – $350,000
  • Nashville, TN – $460,000
  • Phoenix, AZ – $460,000
  • Orlando, FL – $405,000
  • New Orleans, LA – $250,000

You’re not saving a small amount when you buy a home in Shreveport; your home-buying power increases dramatically. For the price of a small condo in another city, you can afford a comfortable, single-family home with a nice yard. That’s a major lifestyle changer!

Far more than just the Strip, Las Vegas, Nevada, is a suburban dream in the Mojave Desert. The city is community-driven, family-oriented, and a hub for remote workers of all stripes. Las Vegas is also one of the fastest growing sports markets in the United States and is at the forefront of water conservation.

If you’re moving to Las Vegas and looking to take a deep dive into the facts and figures that define her, you’re in luck! This Las Vegas moving guide, brought to you by NSA Storage, is filled with useful and practical info! Read on to find out more and be fully prepared to enjoy your new life in Vegas once you arrive!

Entrepreneurs Love Las Vegas!

Vegas is a hub for entrepreneurs for several reasons, first of which is lower taxes. Nevada is also business-friendly, with strong privacy protections, a faster registration process, and a lower compliance burden. In short, the city is a place to start, scale, and network a new business with ease, and lets you keep more of your money when you do!

Here are a few more reasons to move to Las Vegas if you’re an entrepreneur:

  • A built-in market that sees 40+ million visitors a year
  • A word-class event and convention infrastructure
  • Flexible zoning
  • Lower labor and rent costs
  • A very strong small business ecosystem
  • A time zone that works for both coasts
  • A mindset that accepts risk and doesn’t stigmatize failure

Lower Taxes are a Big Draw in Las Vegas

Saving money is big on everyone’s “to do” list these days, no question. In Las Vegas, and the entirety of Nevada, you’ll be pleased to know that there are no state income taxes. Not only that, but Las Vegas’ property taxes are some of the lowest in the country.

Now, you might think that Sin City collects taxes elsewhere to make up for the loss, but sales tax is 8.4%. That’s not much higher than the national average, which is about 7.5%. In short, more of your hard-earned money will stay in your bank account when you live in Las Vegas.

Outdoor Activities are Extremely Diverse around Vegas

A desert sunset on the mountains near Las Vegas.

You might think that, being in the desert, outdoor activity might be limited in Las Vegas. That couldn’t be further from the truth. With 300+ days of sunshine and proximity to some of the most spectacular settings in the country, outdoor activities are abundant!

Here are a few of the highlights and popular activities in The 702:

  • Hiking
  • Biking
  • Rock climbing
  • Off-roading
  • Mountain biking

Golf is also very popular here, and you can hit the links year-round on 70+ courses! Day trips are also very popular thanks to Vegas being close to some amazing places, including:

Lastly, snow skiing is popular here thanks to being close to the Spring Mountains, Markagunt Plateau, and Sierra Nevada. Very few major cities let you golf and ski within the same region!

Two of the best locations for these fantastic winter sports include:

Top Tier Food City

You’ve likely heard of the phenomenal buffets you can enjoy in Las Vegas on the Strip. The truth is that the dining scene both on and off the Strip is top-tier. Vegas draws millions of folks from around the world, and their food is well represented!  From fine dining to darn good dives, the city serves it all, and does it 24 hours a day!

Here are a few of the culinary highlights you’ll enjoy in The Entertainment Capital of the World:

  • A wide range of fine dining restaurants
  • Foods from around the world
  • A strong Chinatown corridor
  • Many celebrity chef restaurants
  • A strong late-night dining culture
  • An extensive restaurant choice outside the Strip

The Weather in Las Vegas is Fantastic

We’ve already mentioned that Vegas sees over 300 days a year of sunshine, more than many major cities. That’s one of the biggest reasons people move to Las Vegas, to escape the cold found in other places. The humidity here is also very low, mostly due to the fact that the city only sees 4 inches of rain a year.

It must be said, though, that it can get hot here, with temps in summer that can reach and even exceed 115°F!  For some, that might be a dealbreaker, even with the air-conditioning on fill blast.

Here’s a quick look at the weather and climate you can expect when moving to Las Vegas:

  • Spring- Pleasant days and even more pleasant nights make this the best time of year for many. Plus, the desert comes to life.
  • Summer- Average highs between 105°F–110°F. Monsoons are possible late in the season.
  • Fall- This is when Vegas really shines! Warm days, no rain, no humidity, and cool evenings make the city most livable.
  • Winter- Cooler weather prevails but snow is very rare. Daytime temps hover between 55°F–65°F.

Las Vegas’s Cost of Living is Reasonable

With a cost of living index of approximately 92 / 100, Las Vegas is slightly lower than the national average. That makes it cheaper than San Diego or LA, and on par with Phoenix and Denver. Median home prices hover around $430,000, and the rent on a 2-bedroom apartment is about $1700.

Below are a few more cost of living tidbits about Las Vegas:

  • Daily driving is affordable but car insurance is higher than average
  • The average commute is 25 minutes
  • Water costs are surprisingly controlled and moderate
  • Fixed costs are manageable
  • No taxes on groceries or prescription meds, a big savings
  • Healthcare costs are slightly below the U.S. average

Sports are Booming In Las Vegas

Las Vegas has seen a rapid rise in credibility when it comes to professional sports. The city is a major boxing and UFC hub, and hosts big-name events throughout the year. With the addition of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020, the city is now a legitimate sports city.

Here’s a list of the major sports teams in Vegas:

Magnificent Parks and Green Spaces

If there’s one aspect of Las Vegas that’s truly surprising it’s the number of parks and green spaces on offer. There are several quality parks and recreation areas both inside and out of the city. Let’s take a look at some of the best:

  • Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs– One of the largest parks in the valley, it’s also the most scenic. With abundant lakes, trees, picnic areas, and trails, the park is perfect for fishing, hiking, and family outings.
  • Sunset Park– This urban park features disc golf, picnic areas, and sports fields. It’s also popular for walking and biking on its many paths.
  • Craig Ranch Regional Park– Another multi-use park, this one offers a skate park and splash pad for your little ones.
  • Desert National Wildlife Refuge– One of the biggest wildlife refuges in the country, with mountain ranges, desert plains, and a variety of wildlife.

There are several major natural spaces nearby, also, including:

  • Spring Mountains / Mount Charleston– Cool mountain air and pine forests are the big draw here. While hiking you’ll enjoy fall foliage and, surprisingly, snow. (About 45 minutes from the city.)
  • Lake Mead National Recreation Area– This massive lake offers all the boating, fishing, and water activities you could wish for! (About 35 – 45 minutes from the city.)

Las Vegas also has a trail network that connects parks and neighborhoods and is constantly growing. That includes Wetlands Park Nature Preserve, where the birdwatching is phenomenal.

Over five million new small businesses are started every year in the US. Running a small business can be rewarding, but it also has its challenges, and one of the biggest is a lack of space and organization. If you want to ensure safety and efficiency in your small business, freeing up some space might be a good idea. Below, we’ll explain how using a self-storage unit can make the difference between stagnancy and scaling. Read on to help your small business go from surviving to thriving from the self storage specialists at NSA Storage!

Small Businesses Need on Space to Grow

Most small businesses start from home, whether in a spare bedroom, basement, or garage. These spaces, unfortunately, have their limits, which can slow your growth and progress to a crawl.

Here are a few of the challenges a too small workspace or work area can present:

  • Not enough space to store and organize inventory
  • Tools, materials and equipment are scattered
  • Documents and paperwork pile up on desks and other surfaces
  • Non-essential items take up limited space
  • Room to grow and expand is becomes limited

More Storage Space for Inventory

One of the biggest small business challenges is storing and organizing inventory. When you expand your space with a self storage unit, some benefits include:

A man and woman in a pottery store looking at a laptop.
  • Inventory and overstock can be stored safely out of the way
  • You can organize your inventory in any way you choose
  • Your inventory will be more accessible with less hassle
  • You can quickly scale stock supplies without the stress of where to store it.

This self-storage benefit is perfect for:

  • Small business that sell online
  • Small retail shops
  • Subscription-based businesses
  • Business that specialize in hosting events

Storage Space for Materials, Tools, and Equipment

Millions of businesses rely on their materials, tools, and equipment. All of those things need to be stored safely and securely, which can become problematic as you try to expand.

Having a self-storage unit to store your materials, tools, and equipment allow you to:

  • Store everything in a safe location with 24/7 security
  • Prepare for jobs more quickly and easily
  • Keep everything well organized
  • Reduce damage to equipment and tools

This self-storage benefit is perfect for:

  • Contractors
  • Electricians, plumbers, and other tradespeople
  • Cleaning companies
  • Rental companies
  • Event-based companies

Room to Store Documents, Paperwork, and Records

Almost all small businesses have one thing in common: lots of paperwork, documents, and records. Sure, it might be minimal at first, but all those papers can quickly grow into a mountain of mess and clutter.

Renting a self-storage unit helps in several significant ways:

  • Your documents contracts, records, and client files will be in a secure location
  • Your workspace will be free of paper clutter
  • You’ll maintain compliance in your industry
  • Organizing everything will be easier

This important benefit is the perfect for:

  • Medical businesses like dentists, orthodontists, chiropractors, etc.
  • Design houses where copyrights and intellectual properties are important
  • Architectural firms
  • Law firms

A Place to Store Seasonal Supplies, Displays, and Products

Many small business owners rely on seasonal supplies, decor, and inventory to stay profitable. During the off-season, however, all of these items can become a distraction and devour much-needed workspace.

A storage unit allows you to store these items out of the way until you need them again, including:

  • Holiday decorations
  • Supplies for seasonal events
  • Seasonal product lines
  • Promotional display items

Increased Flexibility for Growth and Scaling without Disruptions

For a small business the ability to be flexible and make quick course corrections when needed can be a game-changer. For example, your business might only need extra storage space in October, November, and December for the holiday rush.

At NSA Storage, we offer benefits that help you scale quickly without forcing you to rent space you don’t need year-round.

  • We offer month-to-month leases with NO long-term contracts.
  • You can rent for 1 month, 3 months, or however many you need.
  • Our storage facilities offer several different sizes of storage units, so you don’t pay for space you don’t need.
  • Climate-controlled units keep inventory in perfect condition.

Cost-Effective Small Business Growth

Of all the benefits of self storage for small businesses this one might be the most impactful: the ability to grow without breaking your budget. The fact is, commercial space can be expensive, especially retail space. Plus, once you’ve committed to a space, it’s difficult and costly to move to another.

Self-storage is a cost effective solution thanks to these benefits:

A man buying pastries at a pastry shop.
  • It reduces your overhead, sometime significantly
  • There are no maintenance costs (cleaning, utilities, etc.)
  • 24/7 security is included in the cost of the rental
  • You won’t be forced to relocate your business

With a storage unit lowering your overhead, you can invest those savings into:

  • Marketing and advertising
  • Purchasing inventory
  • Increasing your staff or team

Maintain and Increase Your Business’s  Productivity

This last benefit of self-storage is likely the most important: the ability to maintain and increase productivity. An open, clean, and well-organized work area helps you and your team in many ways, including:

  • You and your team will have far fewer distractions
  • Faster access to tools and materials with less time searching
  • Improved creativity
  • Improved morale and positivity
  • Improved safety
  • A more professional appearance
  • Better communication between you and other team members
  • Improved performance all around

The fact is, small businesses run well when people are happy, positive, and not distracted. If you can provide the space to meet those needs, growth and success become inevitable!
